REFRAD PACKET EXAMPLE

Absolutely loving life at NTC.

October 28, 2020

If you’re feeling completely over it and you’re ready to start looking into submitting your REFRAD packet, but you’re not sure where to start, this is for you.

This post really isn’t going to extend much beyond providing document templates for your REFRAD (Resignation from Active Duty) application. I know there are a lot of you who have friends or mentors you can discuss this with and get templates from other people. But there are also people who aren’t in an environment where they feel comfortable discussing this with anyone–superiors or peers–and are curious about the process and paperwork that’s required.

So… here ya go! Below you’ll find all of the documents that I needed to initiate my resignation. This is all fairly recent, and got the HRC stamp of approval. If you already have someone who’s given you a template, awesome–sometimes it’s nice to have multiple templates so you can compare. I’ve already had a few people send me updated documents from their own REFRAD packets. If you’re reading through this and notice anything I’ve shared here is outdated, please let me know. When I have time to update the site, I try to keep this information relevant and accurate. Thank you.

Hope this is helpful, and damn it, don’t let anyone talk you into adopting THEIR vision for how YOU should be “successful” in YOUR life. JUST DON’T DO IT!!!! They are NOT you and they won’t have to deal with the lifelong consequences of your decisions that they pressured you into. Providing advice and mentorship is one thing—but causing you to feel guilt and pressure to go down a specific path that may not be right for you or your family…that ain’t right. Feel free to hit me up if you have questions. If I don’t know the answer, maybe I’ll know someone who does.

Next step, the dreaded conversation with your boss. You CAN do it!

After all, what’re they gonna do–fire you? (One can only hope lol) After it’s over, I promise you’ll feel so much better. Quit feeling sorry for yourself or anxious that you’re going to offend some senior officer. Go in there and get that shit over with!

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
